Fashion Week is at its best when it introduces you to ideas, people and creative work you might not otherwise encounter.

For its coverage of the second Indigenous New York Fashion Week, Teen Vogue turned its attention to six emerging designers helping shape the next generation of Indigenous fashion.

The 2026 event brought 30 designers from around the world to New York, with collections spanning traditional craft, contemporary tailoring, streetwear, upcycling and experimental design.

What connects the designers in Teen Vogue’s story isn’t a single aesthetic. It’s exactly the opposite: each is using fashion in their own way to explore culture, identity, sustainability, history and what Indigenous design can look like now and in the future.

That individuality resonated with us.

Hair and fashion work in much the same way at their best. Technique matters enormously, but the goal isn’t to make everybody look the same. It’s having the skill to understand the person, the story and the idea — and then create something that belongs to them.

During Marc and Sabrina’s New York trip, Marc spoke about the experience of working on Indigenous Fashion Week shows. Teen Vogue’s feature offers another perspective on the creativity and designers surrounding the event.
