How to make your colour last between salon visits? It’s a multi-layered answer that covers everything from styling and shampooing, to sun protection. But we’re here to help you out!
Here’s a few of our top tips to help you out:
Use The Right Shampoo
Steer clear of shampoo that contains sulphates. They can strip your hair of the colour pigment, causing your bright salon-hue to fade. Most hair care brands will have a specific colour shampoo to protect your hair from fading. We also suggest looking for added UV protectors.
We love Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Colour (back it up with Oribe Conditioner for Beautiful Colour, too).

Wash Your Hair Less Frequently
The more you wash your hair, the faster your colour will fade. Try to stretch out the time between washes by using dry shampoo and styling your hair in different ways.
We love R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo.

Keep it Cool
Use cool water when washing and rinsing your hair. Hot water can open up the cuticles of your hair, causing colour to fade faster. On the other hand, cool water coaxes the cuticles flat, relaxed and smooth, thereby preserving colour.
Use UV Protection
UV rays can fade hair colour, so use hair product with UV protection when you’re outside, and double up with a hat for extra protection.
We love Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray.

Down Styling Tools
Take a break from heated styling tools like flat irons and curling irons, which can cause your hair colour to fade faster. Try to avoid using them or use them on a lower heat setting.
Get regular touch-ups
The longer you wait between salon visits, the more your colour will fade (or grow out). Try to schedule regular touch-ups toners tailored to your hair by your colourist, to keep your locks looking fresh always!
